第一步
对于SAT写作文章的阅读理解，是一个很重要的部分。不过由于新SAT文章不短，因此第一步中，读懂文章，分段落，找修辞手法，要更加有效率。推荐这样一种阅读方式：Title-Assignment-Article
第一步是读题目，通过题目可以对文章内容作一个基本定位。
第二步是读文章后面的方框，也叫assignment,里面会告诉我们本文的中心论点。中心论点确定了，对内容理解上一般就不会跑偏，因为文中所有文字毫无疑问是为论点服务的。
第三步才是读正文，分析作者是如何展开及证明本人论点的。
正确的步骤有了，大方向定了，接下来具体的文本解读亦有技巧可寻。
第二步
好的开头是成功的一半，这用在SAT写作中依然适用。因此在SAT写作学习中，同学们对于开头一定要多加重视。其实大家在逐渐接触到新SAT写作考试后，慢慢会发现其实新SAT写作部分也是有套路的，也是可以掌握SAT写作经验的，下面就对开头如何写，推荐一种方法：
写开头 (作者写作意图+文章主旨+写作手法罗列)
1)Introduce the writer's intention of this argument;
介绍作者的写作意图;
2)Brief the main idea of the passage(Better to mention author and title of the passage in the essay);
简述文章主旨，最好在写作中能提及作者和文章标题;
3)List the most relevant evidence/reasoning/stylistic or persuasive elements the writer uses to support his or her argument.
罗列作者在论证主题时，最相关的论据/理由/最能体现体裁或者最具有说服力的元素。
第三步
按文章逻辑顺序分析写作手法
Each paragraph contains a topic sentence, which introduces the whole paragraph in brief, and an elaboration on a specific device in detail.
每段都有一句主旨中心句，以及一段详细的论证。
1)Cite the device or tool you are going to elaborate in the paragraph;
引用文章中的论证内容用于自己的写作;
2)Explain what it is in the essay and what meaning or idea it carries;
在写作中解释它是什么，它的作用以及文中它有何种意义;
3)Analyze the effect on essay in terms of appealing to reason;
从逻辑层面，分析该手法对文章的影响;
4)Analyze the effect on readers in terms of appealing to emotion;
从情感层面，分析该手法对读者的影响。
第四步
重述文章主旨+主题
Unlike many other types of writing, the resigned SAT essay does not demand a deeper insight to the future or whatsoever. The students need only to repeat in a paraphrasing manner the following:
SAT写作不需要体现深刻内涵的想法，我们只需要能用自己的话语转述如下内容：
1)The main idea of the passage;
阅读文章的中心思想;
2)The tools the writer uses to make his or her argument persuasive;
作者运用的论证手法;
3)If time allows, the intention of the writer and the effects of the tools employed.
如果时间有余，还可以再罗列一下作者采用该论证手法的目的及其使用效果。
